Acute heart failure
Acute heart failure refers to the condition in which organic heart disease develops into myocardial contractility impairment, which makes the heart unable to discharge all the blood returning to the heart, resulting in reduced cardiac output, pulmonary venous congestion, and severe arterial insufficiency. It is commonly seen in acute myocarditis, myocardial infarction, severe valvular stenosis, acute cardiac capacity overload, and rapid ectopic heart rhythm. Clinically, it is characterized by extreme irritability, extreme shortness of breath, coughing up white or pink foamy sputum, and dry and wet rales in both lungs.
