Spring catarrhal conjunctivitis
Vernal conjunctivitis is an allergic disease with strong seasonality, often affecting both eyes. It occurs when the weather is warm and flowers are blooming in spring, and disappears in late autumn when the weather is cold. It recurs every year. Mild cases will not recur after 3 to 4 years, while severe cases may recur continuously for more than 10 years. The disease is characterized by itchy eyes, large and flat papillae on the palpebral conjunctiva, colloid hyperplasia of the conjunctiva near the corneal margin, and a large number of eosinophils in the secretions.
