Chronic lymphocytic leukemia
CLL is a clonal malignant disease of B lymphocytes (rarely T lymphocytes). The disease is often painless, with a slowly progressive accumulation of mature small lymphocytes that are immunocompromised and poorly responsive to antigenic stimulation. The immunocompromise is associated with the formation of inappropriate antibodies by abnormal B cells, which have an inhibitory effect on the body's immune function. The advanced stage of CLL can lead to bone marrow failure and direct tissue and organ infiltration.
