Nystagmus
Nystagmus, also known as nystagmus for short, is an involuntary, rhythmic, back-and-forth swinging eye movement. It is often caused by diseases of the visual system, extraocular muscles, inner ear labyrinth, and central nervous system. Nystagmus can be divided into two categories based on etiology, clinical features, and related neuro-ophthalmological conditions: ① sensory defect nystagmus, such as fixation nystagmus; ② motor defect nystagmus, such as fixation paralysis nystagmus.
