Cervical polyps are a manifestation of chronic cervicitis and are more common in married women. Chronic inflammation long-term stimulates the local mucosal hyperplasia of the cervical canal. The uterus has a tendency to expel foreign bodies, causing the hyperplastic mucosa to gradually protrude from the base to the external cervical opening to form polyps. One type of polyp originating from the cervical mucosa is covered with a layer of columnar epithelium on the surface and has abundant microvessels, so it is bright red, soft, and fragile. It will bleed if it is touched lightly, so that it often becomes infected and forms ulcers. Another type of polyp originates from the vaginal part of the cervix, and the surface is covered with stratified squamous epithelium. Because the stroma is mainly fibrous connective tissue, it is light red in color, tough in texture, with a wide base, and a superficial lesion.
