Gastric torsion
The lower end of the normal stomach is fixed by the duodenum, and its shape is maintained by the gastrosplenic ligament, gastroduodenal ligament, gastrophrenic ligament and gastrohepatic ligament, so it cannot rotate 180 degrees. Gastric volvulus is a disorder of the fixation mechanism of the normal position of the stomach or a lesion in the adjacent organs that causes the stomach to shift, causing the stomach itself to twist abnormally along different axes, either completely or partially. It can be transient with almost no symptoms, or it can lead to obstruction or even ischemic necrosis.
