Pseudomonas mallei pneumonia is an acute or chronic inflammation of the lower respiratory tract caused by Pseudomonas mallei. People are infected by contact with sick animals. Acute cases die within 1 to 2 weeks, and chronic cases are long-lasting. Pseudomonas belongs to the Pseudomonas family and includes a group of Gram-negative rods. It is widely present in soil, water, dirt and air.
