Atrial flutter in the elderly
Atrial flutter can be considered as an intermediate type between atrial tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. When the frequency of the atrial ectopic pacemaker reaches 250 to 350 beats/min and is regular, it causes rapid and coordinated contraction of the atrium, which is called atrial flutter.
