Ulnar nerve injury
In the wrist, the ulnar nerve is susceptible to cuts. In the fingers and palms, the digital nerves are susceptible to cuts or bruises. The deep branch of the ulnar nerve is a motor branch and can sometimes be stabbed or penetrated. In the elbow, the ulnar nerve is often injured by direct trauma or a combination of fracture and dislocation. Ulnar nerve injury caused by severe elbow valgus deformity and ulnar nerve slippage is also known as cubital tunnel syndrome or chronic ulnar neuritis. If general anesthesia is not taken care of and the hand is left hanging over the edge of the operating table, paralysis may occur due to prolonged compression. In cases of cervical rib or anterior scalene syndrome, the ulnar nerve is most often damaged.
