Intraocular metastatic tumor
Intraocular metastatic tumors are relatively rare because the ophthalmic artery branches at right angles to the internal carotid artery. Therefore, tumor emboli in the blood flow tend to remain in the skull (brain and meninges) due to the blood flow velocity, and are not likely to enter the eye through the ophthalmic artery.
