The main cause of cervical spondylosis is the degeneration of the cervical intervertebral disc, including bulging, protrusion and herniation of the nucleus pulposus, which all represent different stages of cervical spondylosis. However, sudden cervical disc herniation is often encountered in clinical practice, and most of them present paralysis as the first symptom. As early as 1978, the author made a diagnosis based on the trapezoidal changes on the dynamic lateral X-ray film and other clinical symptoms, and achieved satisfactory results by removing the nucleus pulposus in early surgery. We call this type of disease "acute cervical disc herniation". With the development of MRI examinations in recent years, this disease has been confirmed by everyone.
