Postpartum heat stroke
Puerperal heat stroke refers to an acute fever caused by the inability to dissipate the residual heat in the body in a high temperature environment during the puerperal period, which leads to central body temperature regulation dysfunction. It is manifested as high fever, water and electrolyte disorders, circulatory failure and nervous system dysfunction. The disease has an acute onset and develops rapidly. Improper treatment may leave serious sequelae or even death. The normal human body produces and dissipates heat under the control of the hypothalamic body temperature regulation center, and the body temperature is in a dynamic balance, maintained at around 37°C. Puerperal women are generally weak in constitution, and the central body temperature regulation function is impaired. In the case of high temperature, high humidity and poor ventilation, they are often prone to postpartum heat stroke. After postpartum heat stroke, the patient's body temperature rises, the pulse and breathing speed up, the face is flushed without sweating, the skin is dry and hot, and the whole body has prickly heat or sweats while the body temperature drops. If a weak pregnant woman who gives birth in summer is often in a high temperature and high humidity environment after giving birth, it is very likely that the body temperature regulation center will have dysfunction and suffer from heat stroke. Heat stroke is an acute heat stroke. At the beginning, you will only feel thirsty, nauseous, weak, dizzy, chest tightness, palpitations, sweating and frequent urination. At this time, if you can immediately undress, move to a ventilated and cool place, and replenish water and salt, the situation will improve rapidly. If you are not rescued in time, the condition will inevitably worsen further. The body temperature may rise sharply to over 40℃. The mother will have a flushed face, dry skin, prickly heat, vomiting, diarrhea, delirium or coma. Then the face will turn pale, the pulse will be weak and rapid, the blood pressure will drop, the pupils will shrink, and finally respiratory and circulatory failure will occur due to collapse. Even if you are rescued, you may have serious sequelae due to central nervous system damage.
