New variant of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in children
The pathological changes and clinical outcomes of this disease are similar to those of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) and bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE, commonly known as "mad cow disease"), and its occurrence is closely related to BSE. In 1982, Prusiner named a group of diseases with chronic progressive degenerative lesions of the central nervous system as prion diseases.
