Small intestinal volvulus
Small intestinal volvulus refers to the twisting of the small intestinal loop along the longitudinal axis of its mesentery by more than 180° clockwise or counterclockwise, which compresses both ends of the twisted intestinal loop and the mesenteric blood vessels, causing complete or partial occlusion and blood flow obstruction of the intestinal tract, thereby forming closed-loop strangulating intestinal obstruction.
