Lesch-Nyhan syndrome in children
Lesch-Nyhan syndrome is also known as self-destructive facial syndrome. The clinical features of this disease are that it occurs in boys, mental retardation, choreoathetosis, cerebral palsy, compulsive self-mutilation, aggressive behavior and hyperuricemia. This disease often occurs in children due to abnormal uric acid metabolism and is caused by metabolic abnormality of purine. Lesch and Nyhan first reported and described this disease in 1964.
