Ulcer perforation
Gastric and duodenal ulcers develop deep into the stomach or duodenal wall and may penetrate the stomach or duodenal wall. This is a common complication of ulcer disease, but it is half less common than bleeding, accounting for about 20% to 30% of patients hospitalized for ulcer disease.
