Appearance

This product is a colorless clear liquid.

Indication

1. Cerebral blood circulation disorders such as transient ischemic attack, sequelae of stroke, and brain dysfunction caused by cerebral ischemia; 2. Peripheral blood circulation disorders such as thromboembolic vasculitis.

Usage and Dosage

Intravenous drip. The patient should be in a supine position during use. The initial dose is 100 mg of pentoxifylline, which is infused within 2 to 3 hours, and the maximum drip rate should not exceed 100 mg/hour. Depending on the patient's tolerance, the dose can be increased by 50 mg each time, but the dose should not exceed 200 mg each time, 1 to 2 times a day. The maximum dose should not exceed 400 mg/24 hours.

Adverse Reactions

1 Common adverse reactions include: nausea, dizziness, headache, anorexia, abdominal distension, vomiting, etc., with an incidence rate of more than 5%. 2 Less common adverse reactions include cardiovascular system: decreased blood pressure, irregular breathing, edema; nervous system: anxiety, depression, convulsions; digestive system: anorexia, constipation, dry mouth, thirst; skin: angioedema, rash, shiny nails; as well as blurred vision, conjunctivitis, enlarged central blind spot, decreased taste, increased saliva, leukopenia, muscle soreness, weight change, etc. 3 Occasional adverse reactions include angina pectoris, arrhythmia; jaundice, hepatitis, abnormal liver function, decreased blood fibrinogen, aplastic anemia, etc.

Precautions

1. Patients who are allergic to pentoxifylline or other mesylate drugs are contraindicated to use this product. 2. Patients with cerebral hemorrhage and extensive retinal hemorrhage, acute myocardial infarction, severe coronary artery and cerebral vascular sclerosis with hypertension, and severe arrhythmia are contraindicated to use this product.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Not recommended for children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: 1. Animal experiments suggest that long-term use of pentoxifylline increases the chance of fibroids, but there is no obvious teratogenicity. The pros and cons of using this drug should be considered for pregnant women; 2. Pentoxifylline and its metabolites can be secreted by breast milk, so lactating women should suspend the use of the drug. Precautions for the elderly: Elderly patients have slower metabolism in the liver, slower excretion through the kidneys and feces, and should reduce the dosage as appropriate.

Drug Interactions

1. When used in combination with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs, the coagulation time is prolonged. When used in combination with warfarin, the dose should be reduced; 2. When used in combination with theophylline drugs, there is a synergistic effect, which can increase the efficacy and toxicity of theophylline. Therefore, the doses of theophylline and pentoxifylline must be adjusted; 3. When used in combination with antihypertensive drugs, beta-receptor blockers, digitalis, diuretics, antidiabetic and antiarrhythmic drugs, there is no obvious cross-effect, but there is a slight aggravation and a decrease in blood pressure, so attention should be paid.
