Kanamycin Sulfate Eye Drops
Function and Efficacy
Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. It has a good effect on most Enterobacteriaceae, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Enterobacter, Shigella, Salmonella, Citrobacter, Providencia, Yersinia, etc.; influenza bacillus, Brucella, meningococcus, gonococci, etc. are also mostly sensitive to this product, and it is ineffective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It also has a certain effect on methicillin-sensitive strains of Staphylococcus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Other Gram-positive bacteria such as hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, enterococci and anaerobic bacteria are mostly resistant to this product. Kanamycin mainly binds to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins. Kanamycin has complete cross-resistance with streptomycin and neomycin, and may have partial cross-resistance with other aminoglycosides.
