Tiopronin for injection

Function and Efficacy

Tiopronin is a thiol-containing drug with similar properties to penicillamine, which has the function of protecting liver tissue and cells. Animal experiments show that Tiopronin can prevent liver damage caused by carbon tetrachloride, ethionine, acetaminophen, etc. by providing thiol groups, and has an inhibitory effect on the accumulation of triglycerides in chronic liver damage. Tiopronin can reduce the activity of ATPase in liver cell mitochondria, thereby protecting the liver mitochondrial structure and improving liver function. In addition, Tiopronin can also remove free radicals through the reversible binding of thiol groups to free radicals.
