Methoxsalen Tablets

This product (8-methoxypsoralen) is a photosensitizer extracted from the seeds of the plant Ammi serrata on the banks of the Nile River. It has a photodynamic effect, making the skin sensitive to sunlight or artificial ultraviolet rays. Its action spectrum is between 320 and 380nm, with the greatest effect at 365nm. -Toxicological properties: Animal tests show that methoxsalen has no teratogenic effect. Small-scale human clinical trial data also did not show teratogenic effects.

The main ingredient of this product is methoxsalen, and its chemical name is: 9-methoxy-7H-furan[3,2-g][1]benzopyran-7-one

This product is a colorless clear solution.

This product is used for vitiligo and psoriasis.

Dosage and Administration: Initially take 1 tablet/day, and gradually increase to 2-4 tablets/day. Expose to sunlight or long-wave ultraviolet rays (320-380nmUVA.) 2-3 hours after taking the medicine. The initial exposure time is 10-15 minutes, and then increase by 5 minutes each time according to the skin's tolerance, up to half an hour, and no more than 1 hour. The exposure time for the course of treatment is 2-4 weeks, depending on the indications. Treat 2-3 times a week, and once a week during the consolidation treatment period. The exposure time is half an hour or according to the last exposure time. It usually takes 15-25 exposures to treat psoriasis. The effect is better when used orally and externally (for external use, please refer to the instructions for use of Minbenin ointment).

1Excessive ultraviolet radiation for a long time may cause erythema, blisters, bullae, pain and desquamation at the application site, which can be restored after stopping the drug. 2Some patients may experience skin itching after treatment, which can be relieved by taking anti-allergic drugs. 3Some patients may develop hyperpigmentation at or around the skin after treatment, which can be restored after stopping the drug.

1. Patients with lupus erythematosus, erythropoietic porphyria, xeroderma pigmentosum and other photosensitive diseases. 2. Patients with a history of skin cancer. 3. Patients who have used arsenic-containing drugs or radiotherapy. 4. Patients with aphakia (the risk of retinal damage is significantly increased due to the absence of a lens). 5. Patients with a history of specific reactions or allergies to psoralen. 6. Patients with melanoma or a history of melanoma.

Precautions for children: Not for use by children under 12 years old. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Not for use by pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Not for use by the elderly and infirm.

Avoid concomitant use with drugs or foods that may have potential photosensitizing properties.
