Function and Efficacy
This product is a polypeptide hormone uterine contraction drug. 1. It stimulates the contraction of uterine smooth muscles, simulates the uterine contraction effect of normal delivery, causes the cervix to dilate, and the uterus's response to oxytocin gradually increases during pregnancy, reaching a peak at full term. 2. It stimulates the contraction of mammary smooth muscles, helps milk to be discharged from the breast, but does not increase the amount of milk secretion of the mammary gland.

Indication
Used for inducing labor, accelerating labor, and treating uterine bleeding caused by weak or poor uterine contractions after delivery and abortion; understanding the placental reserve function (oxytocin stimulation test).
Usage and Dosage
1. Inducing or accelerating labor, intravenous drip, 2.5 to 5 units at a time, diluted with sodium chloride injection to contain 0.01 unit per 1 ml. At the beginning of intravenous drip, no more than 0.001 to 0.002 units per minute, increase by 0.001 to 0.002 units every 15 to 30 minutes, until the uterine contraction is similar to that of normal labor, the fastest no more than 0.02 units per minute, usually 0.002 to 0.005 units per minute. 2. Control postpartum hemorrhage, intravenous drip 0.02 to 0.04 units per minute, after the placenta is expelled, 5 to 10 units can be injected intramuscularly.
Adverse Reactions
Occasionally, nausea, vomiting, increased heart rate or arrhythmia may occur. High doses may cause high blood pressure or water retention.
Precautions
Patients with narrow pelvis, obstructed birth canal, obvious cephalopelvic disproportion and abnormal fetal position, history of caesarean section, history of myomectomy, umbilical cord presentation or prolapse, placenta previa, fetal distress, strong uterine contractions, uterine atony that is not effective with long-term medication, antepartum hemorrhage (including placental abruption), multiple pregnancy, enlarged uterus (including polyhydramnios), and severe pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome.
Drug Interactions
1. When cyclopropane and other hydrocarbons are inhaled for general anesthesia, the use of oxytocin can cause hypotension, sinus bradycardia or (and) atrioventricular arrhythmia in the parturient. When the concentration of enflurane is greater than 1.5% and the concentration of halothane is greater than 1.0% during general anesthesia, the effect of the uterus on oxytocin is weakened. Enflurane concentrations greater than 3.0% can eliminate the reaction and may cause uterine bleeding. 2. When other uterotonic drugs are used simultaneously with oxytocin, the uterine tension may be too high, resulting in uterine rupture or (and) cervical tearing.
