Function and Efficacy
1. Hemostatic effect. Panax notoginseng can promote the coagulation process. When administered orally to rabbits and dogs, it can shorten the carotid artery coagulation time and the prothrombin time. 2. Anti-inflammatory effect. Panax notoginseng and its total saponins have significant inhibitory effects on various acute and chronic inflammatory models such as egg white, formaldehyde, dextran swelling and cotton ball granuloma in rats. 3. Analgesic effect. Panax notoginseng has inhibitory effects on various pain models such as the mouse writhing method and hot plate method, and the rat light radiation tail flick method. 4. Hepatoprotective effect. Panax notoginseng and its total saponins have an inhibitory effect on the elevated alanine aminotransferase in mice with liver damage caused by carbon tetrachloride, and also have a protective effect on experimental liver damage and liver ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. 5. Other effects. Panax notoginseng total saponins can prolong the lifespan of fruit flies.
