Indication

Topical medication for local treatment of inflammatory papules, pustules and rosacea erythema.

Usage and Dosage

Adverse Reactions

A small number of patients may experience transient erythema, dry skin, burning sensation and skin irritation. Because this product can be absorbed from the mucous membrane, long-term and large-scale use may produce the same adverse reactions as systemic medication, such as: gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, and metallic taste in the mouth; reversible neutropenia; central nervous system symptoms such as headache, dizziness, epileptic seizures and peripheral neuropathy, and other reactions such as fever, vaginal candidal infection, cystitis, and dark urine.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this product or nitroimidazoles and those with active central nervous system diseases and blood diseases.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Children should use with caution. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Animal experiments have found that metronidazole is toxic to the fetus after intraperitoneal administration. However, there is currently a lack of sufficient and rigorous controlled studies on pregnant and lactating women, so pregnant and lactating women are prohibited from using this product. Precautions for the elderly: Due to decreased liver function, the pharmacokinetics of this product are changed when used in the elderly, so it should be used with caution.

Drug Interactions

After large-scale use of this product, it is absorbed through the mucosa and may also produce drug interactions similar to those of systemic medications, such as inhibiting the metabolism of warfarin and other oral anticoagulants, interfering with disulfiram metabolism and serum aminotransferase and lactate dehydrogenase assay results, and combining with liver microsomal enzyme inducers or inhibitors to accelerate or slow down the metabolism of this product in the liver.
