Reduced Glutathione for Injection

Function and Efficacy

Reduced glutathione (GSH) is a peptide naturally synthesized in human cytoplasm. It is composed of glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine, contains sulfhydryl (-SH) and is widely distributed in various organs of the body. It has played an important role in maintaining the biological functions of cells. It is the cofactor of glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase, and the coenzyme of glyoxalase and triose dehydrogenase. It participates in the tricarboxylic acid cycle and sugar metabolism in the body. This product can activate a variety of enzymes [such as sulfhydryl (-SH) enzymes, etc.], thereby promoting the metabolism of sugar, fat and protein, and can affect the metabolic process of cells; it can combine with free radicals in the body through sulfhydryl groups, and can be converted into easily metabolized acids to accelerate the excretion of free radicals, which helps to reduce the toxic side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and has no obvious effect on the efficacy of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. For example, the main mechanism for protecting renal tubules from damage by cisplatin is that the renal tubular cells contain r-glutamyl aminotransferase required for glutathione detoxification, but the renal cells do not have this enzyme, so it does not affect the cytotoxic effect of this product while protecting normal tissues and organs. It is also effective in treating radiation enteritis; it can reduce tissue damage and promote repair in patients with systemic or local hypoxemia caused by anemia, poisoning or tissue inflammation. Through transmethylation and transpropylamination reactions, GSH can also protect the liver's synthesis, detoxification, and hormone inactivation functions, and promote bile acid metabolism, which is beneficial to the absorption of fat and fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) in the digestive tract.

Appearance

This product is a white porous block or powder with a slight peculiar smell and hygroscopicity. It is easily soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol.

Indication

Used for: ① Chemotherapy patients: including chemotherapy with cisplatin, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, erythromycin, bleomycin, especially high-dose chemotherapy; ② Radiotherapy patients; ③ Various hypoxemias: such as acute anemia, adult respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, etc.; ④ Liver diseases: including liver damage caused by viruses, drug toxicity, alcohol toxicity and other chemical toxicity. ⑤ It can also be used as an adjuvant treatment for poisoning by organophosphorus, amino or nitro compounds.

Usage and Dosage

1. Administration route ① Intravenous injection: dissolve it in water for injection, add it to 100ml of normal saline and drip it intravenously, or add it to less than 20ml of normal saline and slowly inject it intravenously; ② Intramuscular injection: dissolve it in water for injection and inject it intramuscularly. 2. Dosage: ① Patients undergoing chemotherapy: dissolve 1.5g/m2 of this product in 100ml of normal saline within 15 minutes before giving chemotherapy drugs, and infuse it intravenously within 15 minutes. On the 2nd to 5th day, inject 600mg of this product intramuscularly every day. When using cyclophosphamide (CTX), in order to prevent damage to the urinary system, it is recommended to inject this product intravenously immediately after the injection of CTX, and the infusion should be completed within 15 minutes; when using cisplatin for chemotherapy, it is recommended that the dosage of this product should not exceed 35mg/mg cisplatin, so as not to affect the chemotherapy effect. ② Liver disease: inject 300mg or 600mg of this product intramuscularly every day. ③Other diseases: For hypoxemia, 1.5g/m2 of this product can be dissolved in 100ml of normal saline and intravenously infused. After the condition improves, 300-600mg can be injected intramuscularly every day for maintenance. 3. Treatment course: For liver disease, the treatment course is generally 30 days. For other conditions, it depends on the condition.

Adverse Reactions

Even with high doses and long-term use, there are few adverse reactions. Sudden rash is rare.
