Medium/long chain fat emulsion injection (C8~24)

Function and Efficacy

Some unsaturated fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the body itself and need to be taken from vegetable oils. They are indispensable nutrients for the body, so they are called essential fatty acids. They are also the precursors of physiologically active substances such as prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes. Fatty acids are the main energy source for the human body, and fatty acid oxidation is an important source of energy in the body. When the oxygen supply is sufficient, fatty acids can be decomposed into CO2 and H2O in the body and release a large amount of energy, which is used by the body in the form of ATP. Except for brain tissue, most tissues can oxidize fatty acids, especially liver and muscles. Phospholipids are the basic skeleton of the lipid bilayer of cell biological membranes (cell membranes, nuclear membranes, mitochondrial membranes), and are also the main components of various lipoproteins. They participate in the transportation of fat and cholesterol. If the phospholipids in plasma are too low, the cholesterol/phosphatidylcholine ratio will increase, and cholesterol deposition will easily occur, causing atherosclerosis. Therefore, phospholipids have the effect of resisting hypercholesterolemia. In addition, in bile, phospholipids form micelles together with bile salts and cholesterol, which is conducive to the dissolution and excretion of cholesterol. Phospholipids are widely distributed in nature. They are abundant in seeds such as soybeans in plants, and are highest in nerve tissues in animals. This product is a sterilized fat emulsion for intravenous infusion, containing soybean oil for injection and lecithin for injection, of which about 60% of the fatty acids are essential fatty acids. The particle size and biological characteristics of this product are similar to those of natural chylomicrons.

Parenteral nutrition medicine, energy supplement. Used for parenteral nutrition to meet the requirements of energy and essential fatty acids.

Usage and Dosage

Infusion is given through a peripheral vein or central vein. In general, fat emulsion should be infused as slowly as possible.

Adverse Reactions

Adverse reactions directly related to fat emulsion are generally divided into two categories: immediate reactions: dyspnea, cyanosis, allergic reaction, hyperlipidemia, hypercoagulability, nausea, vomiting, headache, flushing, fever, sweating, chills, drowsiness and sternal pain, etc. Delayed reactions: hepatomegaly, central lobular cholestatic jaundice, splenomegaly, thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, transient changes in liver function and excess fat syndrome.

Precautions

Patients with abnormal fat metabolism (such as pathological hyperlipidemia), lipid nephropathy, severe liver damage or acute pancreatitis with hyperlipidemia should not use this product. It should be especially prohibited if the patient suffers from ketoacidosis or hypoxia, embolism or shock.
