This prescription uses Schizonepeta spicate and Saposhnikovia divaricata as the main herbs to dispel wind evil, and has a pungent and warm taste without being dry and strong, and a sweet and mild taste without being harsh. Perilla leaf, Pueraria root, Bupleurum chinense, and Angelica dahurica are the assistant herbs to invigorate the lung qi, promote the production of body fluid and quench thirst, open the nasal passages, and treat headaches, and together they assist the main herbs in dispelling the cold, dispersing wind and reducing fever. Phragmites australis, Apricot kernel, and Plantago asiatica are the adjuvant herbs to assist the main herbs in treating symptoms of cough, dry throat, and fever, and to avoid being too pungent and warm. Peppermint and Platycodon grandiflorum are the guiding herbs, which are light, cool, and dispersing, invigorating and raising the lung qi, and are the "navigational agents."
