Loperamide Hydrochloride Capsules

It acts on the opioid receptors of the intestinal wall, preventing the release of acetylcholine and prostaglandins, thereby inhibiting intestinal peristalsis and prolonging the retention time of intestinal contents. It can increase the tension of the anal sphincter, thereby inhibiting fecal incontinence and urgency, and can also be used for patients undergoing anorectal surgery. Its high affinity with the intestinal wall and obvious "first-pass metabolism" make it almost non-entering the systemic blood circulation.

The main ingredient of this product is loperamide hydrochloride.

Antidiarrheal drugs. Used for acute and chronic diarrhea caused by various causes. Used in patients with ileostomy to reduce the volume and frequency of stools and increase the consistency and hardness of stools.

Suitable for adults and children over five years old. 　　1. Acute diarrhea: Starting dose, 2 tablets for adults, 1 tablet for children over five years old, and 1 tablet after each unformed stool. 　　2. Chronic diarrhea: Starting dose, 2 tablets for adults, 1 tablet for children over five years old, and then the daily dose can be adjusted to maintain 1 to 2 normal bowel movements a day. The general maintenance dose is 1 to 6 tablets a day. 　　3. Maximum daily dose: no more than 8 tablets for adults, no more than 3 tablets for children per 20kg body weight.

If the recommended dosage is strictly followed and contraindications are noted, there are no obvious adverse reactions with long-term use. There are reports of adverse reactions such as allergic reactions (including rash), gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea and vomiting, constipation, fatigue, dizziness, and dry mouth, but they are usually difficult to distinguish from the symptoms associated with diarrhea.

Contraindicated for children under 2 years old. Loperamide capsules should not be used in children under 5 years old. As a symptomatic treatment drug, treatment of the cause of diarrhea is still necessary. It cannot be used for the basic treatment of acute bacillary dysentery accompanied by high fever and bloody stools. It is contraindicated for patients with acute ulcerative colitis and pseudomembranous colitis caused by broad-spectrum antibiotics.

Precautions for children: Children under 2 years old are prohibited. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Although this product has no teratogenic effect and embryotoxicity, pregnant women, especially those in the first three months of pregnancy, should still weigh the pros and cons before using it. This product can be secreted in breast milk in small amounts, so it is not suitable for lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: The medication for elderly patients is the same as that for adults.

No interaction has been found when this product is taken simultaneously with other drugs.
