Chorionic Gonadotropin for Injection

Function and Efficacy

This product is a gonadotropin drug. For women, it can promote and maintain the function of the corpus luteum and make the corpus luteum synthesize progesterone. It can promote the formation and maturation of follicles and stimulate ovulation by simulating the peak of physiological luteinizing hormone. For men, it can make the testicles of those with pituitary insufficiency produce androgens, promote testicular descent and the development of male secondary sexual characteristics.

Ingredients

This product is a sterile freeze-dried product of chorionic gonadotropin with appropriate excipients. Its potency should be 80% to 125% of the labeled amount. Excipients are: mannitol, levulin 40, disodium hydrogen phosphate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate.

Indication

1. Diagnosis and treatment of cryptorchidism before puberty. 2. Male infertility caused by hypopituitarism can be used in combination with urinary gonadotropins. Those with long-term hypogonadotropin function should also be treated with testosterone. 3. Female anovulatory infertility caused by pituitary gonadotropin deficiency is often treated with clomiphene in combination with postmenopausal gonadotropins to promote ovulation. 4. For in vitro fertilization to obtain multiple oocytes, it needs to be used in combination with postmenopausal gonadotropins. 5. Treatment of female corpus luteum insufficiency. 6. Functional uterine bleeding, threatened abortion in early pregnancy, and habitual abortion.

Usage and Dosage

Male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism: 1000-2000iu/time, 2-3 times a week. For patients with infertility caused by insufficient sperm production, it can be combined with hMG (75iu/time, 2-3 times a week, at least 3 months). If sperm production is improved, it can be maintained by using this drug alone. Delayed puberty caused by gonadotropin insufficiency: 1500iu/time, 2-3 times a week, for at least 6 months. Children under 6 years old with cryptorchidism: 500-1000iu/time, 2 times a week, for 6 weeks. Patients over 6 years old: 1500iu/time, 2 times a week, for 6 weeks. This treatment can be repeated if necessary. Part of the controlled superstimulation regimen for female infertility caused by anovulation or follicular maturation disorders and assisted reproductive technology: Usually, a single administration of 5000-10000iu after hMG treatment can complete ovulation induction. Over the next 9 days, give this drug at a dose not exceeding 5000 IU/day, up to 3 times, to prevent luteal insufficiency.

Adverse Reactions

1 When used to promote ovulation, the most common symptoms are ovarian cysts or mild to moderate ovarian enlargement, accompanied by mild bloating, stomach pain, and pelvic pain, which can generally subside within 2 to 3 weeks. Rarely, severe ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome occurs. Due to the significant increase in vascular permeability, body fluids rapidly accumulate in the chest, abdominal and pericardial cavities, causing a variety of complications, such as decreased blood volume, electrolyte imbalance, hemoconcentration, abdominal hemorrhage, thrombosis, etc. Clinical manifestations include severe pain in the abdomen or pelvic region, indigestion, edema, decreased urine volume, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea, shortness of breath, swelling of the lower limbs, etc. It often occurs 7 to 10 days after ovulation or after the end of treatment. Severe reactions can be life-threatening. 2 When used to treat cryptorchidism, male precocious puberty may occasionally occur, manifested as acne, enlarged penis and testicles, increased pubic hair growth, and rapid height growth. 3 Less common adverse reactions include: breast enlargement, headache, irritability, depression, and fatigue. 4 Occasionally, there is local pain and allergic rash at the injection site. 5. Using this product to induce ovulation may increase the rate of multiple births or cause neonatal immaturity, premature birth, etc.

Precautions

Confirmed or suspected androgen-dependent tumors, such as prostate cancer and breast cancer in men. This drug can increase androgen production in male patients, so it should be used with caution in prepubertal boys to avoid premature puberty. It should be used with caution in patients with potential or obvious heart disease, renal insufficiency, hypertension, epilepsy or migraine (or those with a history of the above). When using hMG to treat female patients with anovulatory or follicular maturation disorder infertility, the drug should be discontinued immediately if any signs of overdose are found. Pregnancy, abortion and multiple birth rates may increase after gonadotropin-induced ovulation.

Drug Interactions

When used in combination with pituitary gonadotropin (such as HMG), adverse reactions may increase and should be used with caution.
