Description

D-mannitol (D-mannohexan-1.2.3.4.5.6-hexaol) is a constituent of several plants including the Manna ash, several edible plants, and seaweed. Parts of the latter contain up to 10 % mannitol by weight. The solubility in water is approximately 230 g/L at room temperature and it increases with increasing temperature. Mannitol is stable under the common processing conditions of foods.
Mannitol is approximately 50 % as sweet as sucrose and non-cariogenic. In the European Union, maltitol is appro

DL-Mannitol Use and Manufacturing

Dehydration drugs, diuretics. Treat cerebral edema and glaucoma, acute oliguria, prevent acute renal failure, and treat edema of nephrotic syndrome. Note: For patients with active intracranial hemorrhage, injection is prohibited (except for craniotomy). Used as analytical reagents, also used in the synthesis of resins and pharmaceuticals.

Drug Function and Efficacy

It participates in the metabolism of fat, protein, sugar, nucleic acid and nucleotide in the body and is the main source of energy in the body; it inhibits the slow calcium ion influx of slow-reacting fibers, blocks or delays the forward conduction in the atrioventricular nodal reentry pathway, and large doses may also block or delay the forward and retrograde conduction of the bypass pathway; it has a short-term and strong effect of enhancing the vagus nerve, and can terminate arrhythmias caused by atrioventricular nodal reentry and bypass pathway reentry mechanisms.

This ingredient has been used in drugs with the following functions (note: it does not mean that the ingredient itself has the following health functions)
