1. It has the effect of affecting gastrointestinal motility and absorption. Small doses can partially counteract the inhibition of isolated rabbit intestine caused by adrenaline, increase the tension and contraction amplitude of the intestine; large doses can inhibit intestinal motility and counteract the spasmodic contraction of the intestine caused by barium chloride and pilocarpine; it has a promoting effect on mouse gastric emptying; it has an inhibitory effect on the propulsion of the small intestine of mice; it can also enhance the absorption of water and chloride ions in the small intestine of anesthetized rabbits. 2.
