Function and Efficacy

Antibacterial effect It has a wide antibacterial spectrum against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially against Staphylococcus and Streptococcus among Gram-positive bacteria. It has stronger antibacterial activity than previous oral cephalosporins, and its mode of action is bactericidal. It is stable to β-lactamase produced by various bacteria, and also has excellent antibacterial activity against β-lactamase producing bacteria. The mechanism of action is to prevent the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It has a strong affinity for penicillin binding protein (PBP) 1 (1a, 1bs), 2, and 3, but the active sites for different bacteria are different. Acute and chronic toxicity studies on cefdinir in animals such as rats and dogs have shown that cefdinir can be well tolerated. Cefdinir has not been found to be teratogenic or mutagenic.

Usage and Dosage

Disperse with water and take orally or swallow directly. The usual dose for adults is 100 mg (potency) once, three times a day. The usual dose for children is 9-18 mg (potency)/kg per day, taken orally three times. The dose can be increased or decreased according to age and symptoms.

Adverse Reactions

Among the 13,715 patients treated with this product, 354 (2.58%) reported adverse reactions (including abnormal laboratory data). The main adverse reactions were gastrointestinal symptoms (110 cases, 0.80%), such as diarrhea or abdominal pain; skin symptoms (31 cases, 0.23%), such as rash or itching. The main laboratory data abnormalities included elevated alanine aminotransferase (126 cases, 0.92%) and aspartate aminotransferase (89 cases, 0.65%); eosinophilia (41 cases, 0.30%).

Precautions

Patients with a history of shock should not use Cefdinir (Cefdinir Dispersible Tablets). Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin or cephalosporin should use with caution.
