Cefathiamidine for injection

Function and Efficacy

1. Pharmacology This product has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and some negative bacteria, and is particularly effective against Gram-positive bacteria. The in vitro antibacterial activity test of this product shows that it has strong antibacterial activity against pneumococcus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA strain), Staphylococcus epidermidis (MSSE strain) and Branhamella catarrhalis. The MIC90 against Streptococcus pneumoniae is 0.25μg/ml, and the MIC90 against the other three bacteria is less than 8.0μg/ml. It also has strong antibacterial activity against Haemophilus influenzae, with a MIC90 of 2.0μg/ml. It has good antibacterial effect against viridans streptococci, hemolytic streptococci, non-hemolytic streptococci, diphtheria bacillus, perfringens, tetani bacillus and anthrax bacillus. The in vitro antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA strain) and Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE strain) is not as good as that of vancomycin. The mechanism of action of this product is to inhibit the cell wall synthesis of sensitive bacteria, thereby producing a bactericidal effect. 2. Toxicology The LD50 of this product for intravenous injection in mice is (1.02±0.04) g/kg, and the LD50 for intraperitoneal injection is (1.26±0.23) g/kg. In the reproductive toxicity test, the fetal mortality rate of mice in the test group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.01).
