Neomycin Sulfate Eye Drops

Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. This product has a good effect on Staphylococcus (methicillin-sensitive strains) and Corynebacterium, and also has a good effect on Enterobacteriaceae such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, and Proteus. It has poor activity against various groups of Streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Enterococci. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic bacteria are resistant to this product. Bacteria have partial or complete cross-resistance to streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin, and gentamicin.

This product is a colorless or slightly yellow clear liquid.

This product is suitable for conjunctivitis, dacryocystitis, keratitis, blepharitis, tarbomitis, etc. caused by sensitive Gram-negative bacteria such as sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus), Haemophilus influenzae, Escherichia coli, and Proteus.

Instill into the conjunctival sac, 1 to 2 drops at a time, 3 to 5 times a day.

Occasionally there may be mild eye irritation and discomfort, but no systemic adverse reactions.

It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to neomycin or other aminoglycoside antibiotics.
