Appearance
This product is off-white round tablets.
Indication
It is used to prevent toxic symptoms caused by treatment with moderate to high doses of methotrexate or sustained high serum concentrations of methotrexate (including treatment with low doses of methotrexate). It is used to treat toxic symptoms caused by folinic acid deficiency due to methotrexate treatment.
Usage and Dosage
Orally administered Rescuvolin tablets should be taken with adequate liquid before meals. 1. Prevention of clinical manifestations of methotrexate poisoning (calcium folinate rescue) Methotrexate doses of up to 100 mg/m2 body surface area (BSA) must be supplemented with calcium folinate treatment. As an antidote for methotrexate treatment, there is no standard regimen for the therapeutic dose and administration of calcium folinate. Please refer to the recommended doses provided in the table below: Calcium folinate can be injected intramuscularly, orally, or intravenously. Patients with absorption disorders (such as vomiting) cannot take calcium folinate orally. There is a saturation mechanism for oral calcium folinate absorption. If the oral dose of calcium folinate is higher than 40 mg, the bioavailability is reduced. Detoxification
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions occasionally occur. Taking high doses may cause gastrointestinal disorders, sleep disorders, irritability or depression. A small number of epileptic patients have increased frequency of epileptic seizures. There are reports that even non-epileptic patients have experienced convulsion symptoms after taking high doses of calcium folinate.
Precautions
Patients with known allergies to calcium folinate or other components of calcium folinate tablets. Calcium folinate is not suitable for the treatment of pernicious anemia or other types of anemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, because these patients may experience relief of blood symptoms after taking calcium folinate, but may experience worsening of neurological symptoms.
Drug Interactions
It is not recommended to use folic acid antagonists and folinic acid at the same time, because the effect of folic acid antagonists will be reduced or even cancelled. Taking too much folinic acid after using methotrexate can reduce the efficacy of methotrexate (see "Overdose"). Due to the enhanced inhibition of thymidylate synthase, the simultaneous use of folinic acid and 5-fluorouracil can enhance the effect of 5-fluorouracil. The effect of phenytoin, primidone and phenobarbital may be reduced during epileptic seizures.
Storage
No special precautions. Store in original packaging at a temperature below 30°C. +60 months. Do not use after expiration.
