Clobetasol Propionate Cream

This product has a rapid effect and is one of the most potent topical corticosteroids currently used in clinical practice. It has a strong capillary constriction effect, and its anti-inflammatory effect is 112.5 times that of hydrocortisone, 2.3 times that of betamethasone sodium phosphate, and 18.7 times that of fluocinolone. The systemic adverse reactions are 3 times that of fluocinolone, and it has no sodium retention effect, and has a certain effect of promoting sodium and potassium excretion.

This product is an ointment.

It is suitable for skin diseases that are effectively treated with topical corticosteroids, such as chronic eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, neurodermatitis, and palmoplantar pustulosis.

For external use: Apply a thin layer evenly to the affected area, twice a day.

It may cause irritation symptoms such as erythema, burning, itching, folliculitis, skin atrophy and thinning, and capillary dilation at the medication site. It may also cause dry skin, hirsutism, atrophic striae, and increase susceptibility to infection. Long-term medication may cause hypercorticism, manifested as hirsutism, acne, moon face, osteoporosis, etc. It may occasionally cause allergic contact dermatitis.

It is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this drug and its matrix components or to other corticosteroids.

Precautions for children: This product is not recommended for pediatric patients under 12 years old. Because the ratio of skin surface area to body weight in children is higher than that in adults, pediatric patients are more sensitive to topical corticosteroids, which can easily cause suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and Cushing's syndrome. There are reports that children using this product may experience HPA axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome and intracranial hypertension. The manifestations of HPA axis suppression in children include delayed linear growth, delayed weight gain, low blood cortisol levels and lack of response to ACTH stimulation. Intracranial hypertension is manifested by bulging fontanelles, headaches and bilateral papilledema. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Clobetasol propionate is a potent corticosteroid that can be absorbed percutaneously. It has teratogenic effects when administered subcutaneously to rabbits and mice, and the teratogenic effect is greater than that of low-potency steroids. No adequate and strictly controlled studies have been conducted in pregnant women, so during pregnancy, this product can only be used when the possible benefits of the drug outweigh the potential harm to the fetus. Pregnant women should not use this product on a large area, in large quantities or for a long time. It is not clear whether topical corticosteroids can be detected in breast milk.
