Pyrantel Pamoate Granules

This product is a depolarizing neuromuscular blocker with significant nicotinic activity. It can also inhibit cholinesterase, causing acetylcholine accumulation, leading to spastic paralysis of the worm and excretion from the body; in addition, it can depolarize individual cells of the worm, increase the frequency of peak potential release, increase muscle tension, and make the worm lose autonomous activity. Unlike piperazine, it acts quickly, first with significant contraction, and then paralysis.

Main ingredient: pyrantel pamoate. Chemical name: (E)-1-methyl-2-[2-(2-thienyl)vinyl]-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidine, 4,4'-methylene-bis(3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid) salt. Molecular formula: C11H14N2S·C23H16O6. Molecular weight: 594.68

This product is light yellow powder or fine granules; it tastes sweet.

Used to treat ascariasis, pinworm disease, hookworm disease, and whipworm disease.

1 Ascariasis, 10mg/kg (usually 500mg) per day, once before bedtime, for 2 consecutive days. 2 Hookworm disease, same dosage as above, for 3 consecutive days. 3 Pinworm disease, 5~10mg/kg per day, for 3 consecutive days. 4 Whipworm disease, 2 times a day, 6mg/kg each time, for 2 consecutive days.

1. The toxicity is very low at the recommended dose, and toxic reactions only occur at high doses, with digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain and diarrhea. 2. A small number of patients experience headaches, dizziness, drowsiness, chest tightness, rashes, etc., which are generally short-lived. 3. Occasionally, aspartate aminotransferase activity is elevated.

1. Pregnant women and children under 1 year old are prohibited from using this product. 2. Patients with impaired liver function are prohibited from using this product.

Precautions for children: Not for use in children under 1 year old. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Not for use in pregnant women. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.
