Function and Efficacy
Piperaquine affects the ultrastructure of the erythrozoite of Plasmodium berghei, mainly by causing the swelling of the trophozoite food vacuole membrane and mitochondria. The morphology of hemochromatin varies, mostly in the shape of long spindles. Spiral membranes appear in the mitochondria and food vacuole cavities. These changes are progressive and aggravated. Its mode of action may change the function of the membrane by affecting the relevant enzyme system on the membrane. Mitochondrial swelling and other variants lead to the destruction of its physiological function. The increase in the number of mitochondria and the appearance of more membrane bodies in their cavities may be a compensatory reaction after the structure is damaged.

Appearance
This product is a sugar-coated tablet, which appears white or light yellow after removing the sugar coating.
Indication
1. It is used for the treatment of malaria and also for symptom suppression prevention. 2. It is especially used for the treatment and prevention of malignant malaria caused by chloroquine-resistant strains. 3. It can also be used for the treatment of silicosis.
Usage and Dosage
Oral dosage for adults. Dosage is based on piperaquine. 1. Suppressive prevention of malaria. Take 0.6g per month, once a month, before going to bed, and can be taken for 4 to 6 months, but not more than 6 months. 2. Treatment of malaria. This product has a radical effect on malignant malaria caused by chloroquine-resistant strains, but the effect is slow. It is advisable to continue using this product after quinine, artemisinin, and pyronaridine control the symptoms. 0.6g for the first time, 0.6g and 0.3g on the 2nd and 3rd days respectively, with a total of 1.2 to 2.5g. 3. Prevention and treatment of silicosis. Prevention, 0.5g each time, once every 10 to 15 days, 1 to 1.5g per month; treatment. 0.3 to 0.75g each time, once a week, 2g per month, half a year as a course of treatment. After a one-month break, the second course of treatment is carried out, with a total course of treatment of 3 to 5 years.
Adverse Reactions
It can cause dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, stomach discomfort, and numbness of the face and around the lips. Its toxicity to the cardiovascular system is significantly less than that of chloroquine.
Precautions
Contraindicated in patients with severe acute liver, kidney and heart diseases.
