Function and Efficacy

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic that has good antibacterial activity against Streptococcus such as Streptococcus pneumoniae and hemolytic Streptococcus, aerobic Gram-positive cocci such as non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococci and Enterococcus faecalis, aerobic Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Helicobacter pylori. Amoxicillin exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, which can quickly dissolve and rupture bacteria into spherical bodies.

Ingredients

The main ingredient of this product is amoxicillin, and its chemical name is (2S,5R,6R)-3,3-dimethyl-6-[(R)-(-)-2-amino-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acetylamino]-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid trihydrate. Molecular formula: C16H19N3O5S3H2O Molecular weight: 419.46

Indication

1. Acute and chronic intestinal infections caused by gram-positive and -negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria; 2. Diarrhea syndrome; 3. Diarrhea caused by changes in intestinal flora (enterocolitis, antibiotic-induced enterocolitis, traveler's diarrhea); 4. Preoperative and postoperative intestinal preventive medication; 5. Hyperammonemia, portal encephalitis, hepatic insanity.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration. Adults take 0.5g once, once every 6 to 8 hours, and the daily dose does not exceed 4g. The daily dose for children is 20 to 40mg/Kg based on body weight, once every 8 hours; the daily dose for infants under 3 months old is 30mg/Kg based on body weight, once every 12 hours. Patients with severe renal impairment need to adjust the dosage, including patients with endogenous creatinine clearance of 10 to 30ml/min, 0.25 to 0.5g every 12 hours; patients with endogenous creatinine clearance less than 10ml/min, 0.25 to 0.5g every 24 hours.

Adverse Reactions

1 Gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis. 2 Allergic reactions such as rash, drug fever and asthma. 3 Anemia, thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, etc. 4 Serum aminotransferase may be slightly elevated. 5 Superinfection caused by Candida or drug-resistant bacteria. 6 Occasionally, central nervous system symptoms such as excitement, anxiety, insomnia, dizziness and abnormal behavior may occur.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients with penicillin allergy or penicillin skin test positive.

Drug Interactions

1. Probenecid competitively reduces the renal tubular secretion of this product. The simultaneous use of the two can cause an increase in the blood concentration of amoxicillin and a prolonged half-life. 2. Chloramphenicol, macrolides, sulfonamides and tetracyclines interfere with the antibacterial effect of amoxicillin in vitro, but the clinical significance is unclear.

Storage

Keep away from light and store in sealed container.
