Function and Efficacy

This product is a tricyclic antidepressant, and its main function is to block the reuptake of norepinephrine and 5-hydroxytryptamine by the central nervous system, thereby increasing the concentration of these two neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft and exerting an antidepressant effect. This product also has anticholinergic, anti-1 adrenaline receptor and anti-H1 histamine receptor effects, but has little effect on dopamine receptors.

Appearance

This product is a sugar-coated tablet, which appears white after removing the sugar coating.

Indication

It is used for various depressions. Because of its stimulating effect, it is suitable for slow depression, but not for agitated depression or anxious depression. It can also be used for enuresis in children.

Usage and Dosage

1. Common dosage for adults: Oral, start with 25-50 mg once, 2-4 times a day, then gradually increase to a total daily amount of 100-300 mg. For elderly patients, the total daily amount is 30-40 mg, taken in divided doses. The dosage must be adjusted according to tolerance. 2. Common dosage for children: Oral, for the treatment of enuresis in children over 6 years old, take 25 mg once a day, 1 hour before bedtime. If satisfactory results are not achieved within one week, the daily dosage can be increased to 50 mg for children under 12 years old, and to 75 mg for children over 12 years old. A daily dosage exceeding 75 mg will not improve the effect of treating enuresis.

Adverse Reactions

Insomnia and anticholinergic reactions may occur in the early stage of treatment, such as hyperhidrosis, dry mouth, tremor, dizziness, tachycardia, blurred vision, dysuria, constipation or paralytic ileus. Large doses may cause heart block, arrhythmia, anxiety, etc. Others include rash and postural hypotension. Occasionally, epileptic seizures and bone marrow suppression or toxic liver damage may occur.

Precautions

It is contraindicated for patients with severe heart disease, glaucoma, dysuria, bronchial asthma, epilepsy, hyperthyroidism, delirium, granulocytopenia, liver damage, and those who are allergic to tricyclic drugs.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: Children under 6 years old are prohibited to use. Children over 6 years old should reduce the dosage as appropriate. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Pregnant women are prohibited to use. Lactating women should stop breastfeeding while using this product. Precautions for the elderly: Start with a small dose and reduce the dosage as appropriate depending on the condition. Pay special attention to preventing postural hypotension to avoid falling.

Drug Interactions

1. When this product is used in combination with ethanol, it can enhance the inhibitory effect of the central nervous system. 2. When this product is used in combination with anticonvulsants, it can reduce the effect of anticonvulsants. 3. When this product is used in combination with antihistamines or anticholinergics, the efficacy of the drugs is mutually enhanced. 4. When this product is used in combination with estrogen or contraceptives containing estrogen, it can increase the adverse reactions of this product. 5. When this product is used in combination with adrenergic receptor agonists, it can cause severe hypertension and high fever. 6. When this product is used in combination with thyroid preparations, they can enhance each other's effects and cause arrhythmias. 7. When used in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors, there is a risk of hypertension.
