Probenecid
Indication
It is mainly used in the inter-attack and chronic stages of gout to control hyperuricemia. It is suitable for patients with elevated blood uric acid, good renal function, and low daily uric acid excretion. It is also used to treat hyperuricemia caused by thiazide diuretics or those at risk of gout. It is generally not used as an adjuvant treatment for hyperuricemia caused by cancer treatment. Since this product can inhibit the excretion of penicillin and cephalosporins from the renal tubules and increase their blood drug concentrations, it can be used as an adjuvant treatment for some diseases that require long-term high concentrations of penicillin and cephalosporin blood concentrations, such as subacute infective endocarditis, gonorrhea, etc.
