Hyperuricemia, also known as gout, is a group of diseases caused by purine metabolism disorders. Its clinical characteristics are hyperuricemia and the resulting repeated attacks of acute gouty arthritis, tophi deposition, chronic tophi-induced arthritis and joint deformities. It often involves the kidneys and causes chronic interstitial nephritis and uric acid kidney stones. This disease can be divided into two categories: primary and secondary. The cause of primary cases is mostly unknown, except for a few cases caused by enzyme defects. It is often accompanied by hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease, and is a hereditary disease. Secondary cases can be caused by a variety of reasons such as kidney disease, blood disease and drugs.
