Function and Efficacy
Menadione sodium bisulfite is a synthetic form of vitamin K (K3). Vitamin K is a necessary substance for the liver to synthesize factors II, VII, IX, and X. After vitamin K reaches the cells, it can be converted into epoxyphylloquinone under the action of microsomal cyclooxygenase, which helps to carboxylate the amino-terminal γ-carboxyglutamic acid of the precursor of factor II (non-functional precursor protein). Vitamin K deficiency can cause disorders or abnormalities in the synthesis of these coagulation factors, and clinically bleeding tendency and prolonged prothrombin time can be seen.

Appearance
This product is a sugar-coated tablet, which appears white or off-white after removing the sugar coating.
Indication
It is suitable for hemorrhagic diseases caused by vitamin K deficiency, such as neonatal hemorrhage, vitamin K deficiency caused by intestinal malabsorption and hypoprothrombinemia.
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration: 2-4 mg (1/2-1 tablet) at a time, 6-12 mg (11/2-3 tablets) per day.
Adverse Reactions
1. Large doses can cause hemolytic anemia, hyperbilirubinemia and jaundice in newborns and premature infants. It can induce acute hemolytic anemia in patients with erythrocyte 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. 2. Large doses can cause liver damage. Patients with impaired liver function can use vitamin K1 instead.
Precautions
It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.
Special Population Medication
Precautions for children: Large doses of vitamin K3 can cause hemolytic anemia, hyperbilirubinemia and kernicterus in newborns, especially premature infants. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Not yet clear. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.
Drug Interactions
1. Oral anticoagulants such as dicoumarol can interfere with the metabolism of vitamin K. If the two drugs are used together, their effects will cancel each other out. 2. Large doses of salicylates, sulfonamides, quinine, quinidine, etc. can also affect the effect of vitamin K.
