Secnidazole tablets

Pharmacological action: Secnidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole antiprotozoal/microbial drug, and its structure and pharmacological action are similar to those of metronidazole. The in vitro antiprotozoal spectrum of secnidazole is comparable to that of metronidazole, including Trichomonas vaginalis, Trichomonas bovis, Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia lamblia (Giardia duodenalis, Giardia intestinalis). The MIC of this product against Trichomonas vaginalis is similar to that of metronidazole (0.7μg/ml), and the minimum inhibitory concentrations of both against Entamoeba histolytica are also similar (6μg/ml). The minimum inhibitory concentration of secnidazole against Giardia duodenalis (0.2μg/ml) is significantly lower than that of metronidazole (1.2μg/ml), but its clinical relevance is unclear. Toxicological studies: Animal experiments have not shown that this product has teratogenic effects, but like other 5-nitroimidazoles, this product should be avoided as much as possible in the first three months of pregnancy.

Secnidazole

This product is white, off-white or slightly yellow tablets

Nitroimidazole antiprotozoal drugs. Mainly used to treat the following diseases: 1. Urethritis and vaginitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis; 2. Intestinal amebiasis; 3. Hepatic amebiasis; 4. Giardiasis.

Usage: Oral, before meals. Dosage: 1. Urethritis and vaginitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis: Adults, 2g, single dose. Spouses should take it at the same time. 2. Intestinal amoebiasis Symptomatic acute amoebiasis: Adults: 2g, single dose; Children: 30mg/kg, single dose. Asymptomatic acute amoebiasis: Adults: 2g once, once a day, for 3 consecutive days; Children: 30mg/kg once, once a day, for 3 consecutive days. 3. Hepatic amoebiasis: Adults: 1.5g per day, once or divided orally, for 5 consecutive days; Children: 30mg/kg once, once or divided orally, for 5 consecutive days. 4. Giardiasis: Children, 30mg/kg, single dose.

Common adverse reactions include metallic taste in the mouth. Occasional adverse reactions include digestive tract disturbances (such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain), skin allergic reactions (such as rash, urticaria, itching), dark urine, and leukopenia (return to normal after discontinuation of the drug). Rare adverse reactions include dizziness, headache, and moderate neurological dysfunction.

The following patients are contraindicated to use this product: 1. Those who are allergic to secnidazole or general nitroimidazole drugs; 2. Pregnant and lactating women.

Precautions for children: Children over 12 years old can take this product, and the single dose of this product is 30mg/kg, or it can be used under the guidance of a doctor. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: This product is contraindicated for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant; after oral administration, secnidazole can pass through the placental barrier and enter breast milk, so breastfeeding women should avoid breastfeeding during medication. Precautions for the elderly: There is currently no information on the use of this product for people over 65 years old.

1. This product can cause delirium or mental disorder when taken together with disulfiram (also known as anabolic sulfamethoxazole). Do not drink alcohol during treatment with this product or at least within one day after taking the medicine to avoid disulfiram-like reactions. 2. This product has a strong inhibitory effect on the anticoagulant effect of warfarin, so patients with a history of abnormal blood counts should not take it.
