Function and Efficacy
Nimodipine is a 1,4-dihydropyridine calcium channel antagonist. Its pharmacological properties are to effectively regulate the level of intracellular calcium to maintain normal physiological functions. It has a particularly prominent effect on cerebral blood vessels and can bind to specific receptors of the central nervous system. This specificity enables this product to effectively prevent and treat ischemic damage to brain tissue caused by cerebral vasospasm caused by subarachnoid hemorrhage, inhibit the influx of extracellular calcium ions in vascular smooth muscle cells, and have a dilating effect on cerebral arteries in vitro or in vivo, normal or ischemic cerebral arteries. At an appropriate dose, it selectively dilates cerebral blood vessels and has almost no effect on peripheral blood vessels, but increasing the dose also has a good therapeutic effect on hypertension.

Appearance

Indication
Calcium channel blockers are used for ischemic cerebrovascular disease, migraine, cerebral vasospasm caused by mild subarachnoid hemorrhage, sudden deafness, and mild to moderate hypertension.
Usage and Dosage
Oral administration: During the recovery period of acute cerebrovascular disease, 30-40 mg at a time, 4 times a day, or once every 4 hours.
Adverse Reactions
A large number of clinical practices have shown that about 11.2% of patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage experience adverse reactions when treated with nimodipine. The most common adverse reactions are: 1. Decreased blood pressure, the degree of which is related to the drug dose. 2. Hepatitis. 3. Skin tingling. 4. Gastrointestinal bleeding. 5. Thrombocytopenia. 6. Occasionally, transient dizziness, headache, facial flushing, vomiting, gastrointestinal discomfort, etc. In addition, after oral administration of nimodipine, some patients may experience an increase in alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), increased blood sugar, and an increase in platelet count in some individuals.
Precautions
The drug can be secreted into breast milk and should not be used by breastfeeding women.

Precautions for children: Not yet clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Nimodipine is contraindicated for use in pregnant and lactating women. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.
Drug Interactions
1. When used in combination with other calcium ion antagonists that act on the cardiovascular system, it can increase the effectiveness of other calcium ion antagonists. 2. When nimodipine 90 mg/day is used in combination with cimetidine 1000 mg/day for more than one week, the blood concentration of nimodipine can increase by 50%, which may be related to the fact that cimetidine inhibits cytochrome P450 in the liver and blocks the metabolism of nimodipine.
