Benzbromarone Tablets
Function and Efficacy
This product is a benzofuran derivative and a uricosuric drug. Its mechanism of action is mainly to inhibit the reabsorption of uric acid by the renal tubules, thereby reducing the concentration of uric acid in the blood. Toxicological studies: According to reports, rats have been reported to have developed liver cancer after long-term oral administration [50 mg/kg/day (about 17 times the clinical dose) for 104 weeks]. In vitro studies have shown that this product also has the effect of promoting peroxisome proliferation in isolated rat liver cells, but has no such effect on human stem cells. Therefore, some literature believes that the effect of this product inducing rat liver cancer may not be extended to humans. There are also documents that believe that this product is safe for patients with kidney and liver diseases based on 10 years of treatment experience, and is suitable for long-term use in patients with kidney and liver diseases or insufficient function.
