Ornidazole Tablets

Ornidazole is mainly metabolized in the liver. In the body, it mainly acts on the DNA of anaerobic bacteria, amoeba, giardia and trichomonas cells in the form of cytotoxic original drugs and cytotoxic intermediate metabolic active products, breaking their helical structure or blocking their transcription and replication, thereby causing their death and achieving the purpose of antibacterial and anti-biomass. Studies have reported that the acute toxicity test of ornidazole on mice showed that its LD50 was 645mg/kg (oral gavage) and 1027mg/kg (intraperitoneal injection). Long-term toxicity tests have shown that ornidazole has good tolerance, no mutagenicity, teratogenicity, carcinogenicity, and no adverse interactions with alcohol. However, it does not inhibit the activity of sperm during medication, and it recovers naturally after stopping the drug.

The main ingredient of this product is ornidazole.

This product is white or off-white.

1. Used to treat various diseases caused by anaerobic bacteria (Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distichous, Bacteroides ovale, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgaris, Clostridium, Eubacterium, Peptococcus and Peptostreptococcus, Helicobacter pylori, Bacteroides melaninus, Fusobacterium, CO2-phagocytosis, Bacteroides gingivalis, etc.); 2. Diseases caused by Trichomonas and Giardia infection in the urogenital tract of men and women (such as vaginal trichomoniasis, etc.); 3. Diseases caused by intestinal and hepatic amoebiasis (including amoebic dysentery, amoebic liver abscess), and intestinal and hepatic amoeba infection; 4. Used to prevent and treat anaerobic infection after surgery in various departments.

Treatment of anaerobic infection: Adults 500 mg/time, twice a day (once in the morning and evening, the same below); children 10 mg/kg every 12 hours; Amebiasis: Adults 500 mg/time, twice a day; Children 25 mg/kg/day; Giardiasis: Adults 1.5 g/time, once a day; Children 40 mg/kg/day; Trichomonas infection: Adults 1~1.5 g/time, once a day; Children 25 mg/kg/day. During the medication, there may be mild dizziness, headache, drowsiness, gastrointestinal reactions, and muscle weakness.

Patients who are allergic to nitroimidazole drugs are also allergic to this drug, and it is contraindicated for patients who are allergic to this drug; it is also contraindicated for patients with pathogenic bacteria changes in the brain and spinal cord, epilepsy and various organ sclerosis patients.

Precautions for children: For children weighing more than 6 kg, the dosage should be strictly in accordance with the doctor's prescription and the child's weight. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Use with caution in early pregnancy; breastfeeding is not suitable during treatment. Precautions for the elderly: Reduce the dosage as directed by the doctor.

1. Ornidazole can resist the metabolism of the anticoagulant warfarin, prolong its half-life, and enhance the efficacy of anticoagulants. When used with warfarin, the prothrombin time should be observed and the dosage should be adjusted. 2. Barbiturates, ranitidine, cimetidine and other drugs can accelerate the elimination of ornidazole, reduce its efficacy and affect coagulation, so they should not be used together.
