Balsalazide Sodium Capsules

Balsalazide Sodium Capsules are a new type of 5-aminosalicylic acid prodrug. After oral administration, it enters the colon in its original form, minimizing systemic adverse reactions. Balsalazide Sodium Capsules induce chemotaxis of polymorphonuclear leukocytes, inhibit lipoxygenase, lead to reduced leukotriene release and inhibit macrophage migration, and are therefore the first choice for intestinal anti-inflammatory drugs. Balsalazide Sodium Capsules were jointly developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, the First Hospital of Jilin University, the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University as a national Class II new drug.

Chemical name: 5-[[p-[(2-carboxyethyl)carbamoyl]phenyl]azo]salicylic acid disodium salt dihydrate Molecular weight: C17H13N3Na2O6·2H2O

This product is a capsule, and the contents are yellow or orange-yellow powder and granules.

Inflammatory bowel disease (mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, chronic amoebiasis, Crohn's disease)

Adults: Take 4 capsules each time, three times a day until relief, for up to 12 weeks. Not recommended for children.

Common adverse reactions include: abdominal pain, diarrhea; occasional digestive system: nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, constipation, indigestion, abdominal distension, dry mouth, jaundice; respiratory system: cough, pharyngitis, rhinitis; others: headache, arthralgia, myalgia, fatigue, insomnia, urinary tract infection.

1. Patients who are allergic to salicylic acid, any ingredients in balsalazide sodium capsules, or balsalazide sodium metabolites are contraindicated. 2. Patients with severe renal insufficiency are contraindicated.

Precautions for children: There is no data on the use of this product in children. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: This product should be used with caution in pregnant and lactating patients. It can only be used when the doctor determines that the benefits outweigh the risks. 5-aminosalicylic acid can cross the placental barrier, but the data are limited and insufficient to evaluate possible adverse reactions. Animal experiments have not found teratogenicity. Precautions for the elderly: There is no data on the use of this product in elderly patients.
