This product is a macrolide antibiotic. Its mechanism of action is similar to that of erythromycin, and its antibacterial spectrum is also similar to that of erythromycin, but its antibacterial activity against most Gram-positive bacteria is slightly worse. Some erythromycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus are still sensitive to kitasamycin. This product also has considerable activity against diphtheria, tetani, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, pertussis, Rickettsia and Chlamydia trachomatis.

It is mainly used for skin and soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections, streptococcal pharyngitis, scarlet fever, diphtheria, Legionnaires' disease, whooping cough, gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethritis, acne, etc. caused by Gram-positive bacteria.

Oral administration: adults 1-1.6 g per day, divided into 3-4 doses.

The incidence of gastrointestinal reactions of this product is lower than that of erythromycin, and rash and itching may occasionally occur.

It is contraindicated for those who are allergic to this product.

Precautions for children: Not yet clear. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: This product can enter the fetal circulation through the placenta, and the concentration is generally not high, but pregnant women should still weigh the pros and cons when using it. Because a considerable amount of this product enters breast milk, lactating women should stop breastfeeding when using it. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.
