Function and Efficacy

This product is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. The antibacterial spectrum of paromomycin is basically the same as that of neomycin and kanamycin. It has inhibitory effects on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially on Shigella and Staphylococcus aureus, and has no effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic bacteria. It has a strong inhibitory effect on ameba, and also has a good effect on Leishmania, Cryptosporidium, filariasis, etc.

Appearance

This product is white or slightly yellow tablets, or sugar-coated tablets.

Indication

1. It is mainly used to treat intestinal amoebiasis, but not effective for extraintestinal amoebiasis. 2. It can be used to treat intestinal cryptosporidiosis. 3. It can also be used for preparation before colon surgery and hepatic coma.

Usage and Dosage

Oral administration. 1. For intestinal amoebiasis, take 0.5g once, 3 times a day, for 7 days. For children, take 30mg/kg once, divided into 3 doses. 2. For cryptosporidiosis, take 0.5-0.75g once, 3 times a day. 3. For patients with colon surgery and hepatic coma, take 1g once, 3 times a day.

Adverse Reactions

Oral administration may cause loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., and may occasionally cause malabsorption syndrome. Long-term oral administration may cause secondary infection.

Precautions

It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to paromomycin or other aminoglycoside antibiotics.

Special Population Medication

Precautions for children: There is currently a lack of data on the safe use of this product in premature infants and newborns, so it should not be used in premature infants and newborns. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: Although this product is rarely absorbed orally, pregnant women should use it with caution.
