Oxacillin Sodium Tablets

This product is an acid-resistant and penicillinase-resistant penicillin. It has good antibacterial activity against penicillinase-producing Staphylococci, but its antibacterial activity against various streptococci and non-penicillinase-producing Staphylococci is inferior to penicillin G. This product exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.

It is oxacillin sodium, and its chemical name is (2S,5R,6R)-3,3-dimethyl-6-(5-methyl-3-phenyl-4-isoxazolecarboxamido)-7-oxo-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]heptane-2-carboxylic acid sodium salt monohydrate. Its structural formula is: Molecular formula: C19H18N3NaO5SH2O Molecular weight: 441.44

The main ingredient of this product is oxacillin sodium. This product is a sugar-coated tablet, which appears white after removing the sugar coating.

This product is mainly used for various infections caused by penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus, including sepsis, respiratory tract infection, meningitis, soft tissue infection, etc. It can also be used for mixed infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes or Pneumococcus and penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus.

This product is taken orally, 2-4 tablets at a time, 4-5 times a day; children take 50mg-100mg per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into 3-4 doses. Patients with mild and moderate renal impairment do not need to adjust the dose, but patients with severe renal impairment should avoid using large doses to prevent central nervous system toxicity.

All kinds of adverse reactions caused by penicillin can occur with oxacillin. 1. Allergic reaction: Various types of rashes such as urticaria are common, while leukopenia, interstitial nephritis, asthma attacks and serum sickness reactions are rare; anaphylactic shock is occasionally seen. Once it occurs, it must be rescued on the spot, and treatment measures such as keeping the airway open, oxygen inhalation, and the use of epinephrine, glucocorticoids, etc. must be taken. 2. Gastrointestinal reactions may occasionally occur with the use of this product, resulting in nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and loss of appetite; large doses of this product may cause central nervous system reactions such as convulsions, cramps, confusion, headaches, etc. 3. There are reports of infants developing hematuria, proteinuria and uremia after using large doses of this product.

It is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergy to penicillins or a positive penicillin skin test.

Precautions for children: neonates, especially premature infants, should use with caution. Precautions for pregnancy and lactation: There is currently a lack of adequate research on the effects of this product on pregnant women, so pregnant women should only use this product when it is really necessary. A small amount of this product is secreted from breast milk, so breastfeeding should be suspended when breastfeeding women take the drug. Precautions for the elderly: Not yet clear.

1. Probenecid can reduce the renal tubular secretion of penicillin and prolong the serum half-life of this product. 2. Aspirin and sulfonamides can reduce the absorption of this product in the gastrointestinal tract, inhibit the binding of this product to serum proteins, and increase the free blood concentration of this product.
